What We’re Looking For

Feralis Press is seeking monster stories and horror with bite — fiction that embraces darkness, myth, fear, and transformation without apology.

  • We are especially interested in work that:
  • Centers monsters, outsiders, or the uncanny
  • Explores fear, identity, power, survival, or transformation
  • Treats horror as meaningful, not decorative
  • Prioritizes voice, atmosphere, and emotional truth
  • Is willing to unsettle rather than comfort

We love stories where monsters are not mistakes to be corrected, but forces to be understood, confronted, or survived. If your work has claws, fangs, or something ancient under the skin, you’re in the right place.

Genres We Accept

  • Horror (all subgenres, including mythic, supernatural, psychological, and dark horror)
  • Dark Fantasy
  • Urban Fantasy (dark, noir, or horror-leaning)
  • Monster Fiction
  • Mythic or Folkloric Horror

We do not currently accept:

  • Cozy horror or light paranormal
  • Romance-first paranormal (romance may exist, but cannot be the core)
  • Children’s or middle-grade fiction
  • Erotica

What We Value

At Feralis Press, we care deeply about:

  • Respect for the writer’s voice
  • Transparency in the publishing process
  • Clear communication and ethical practices
  • Supporting writers who love monsters and horror, regardless of background or platform size

You do not need to be established. You do need to be honest, committed, and willing to let your story bite.

Submission Format

Please submit the following in one document (PDF on please):

1. Cover Letter

  • Brief introduction
  • Genre and word count
  • A short paragraph explaining why this story fits Feralis Press

2. Synopsis (1–2 pages)

  • Include major plot points and the ending

3. Manuscript Sample

  • First 10,000 words or first 3 chapters (whichever comes first)

Response Time

We aim to respond within 8–12 weeks. If your work is not the right fit, it does not mean it lacks merit —only that it does not align with our current vision.

A Final Word to Writers

If you’ve ever been told your work was too dark, too strange, or too much — we encourage you to submit. Bring us your monsters.
